wanderlust is the child of whim and passion, so why are you surprised that it dwells within
alacartoona's heart? to satisfy its cravings, she accepted a gracious offer from two of her dear
friends to visit and perform in aspen, co.
john & sharon hoffman--entrepreneurs, cosmopolites, lovers of art and lovers in general--asked
alacartoona to join them at their summer home in aspen for a weekend of relaxation and reflection.
"pristine" is a fair description of this town and the valley in which it resides. the air was
fresh and crisp (and noticeably lacking in oxygen), the grass was
shockingly green, the cars were slaves to their pedestrian masters and the denizens were polite,
understated and kind. alacartoona became quite enamoured of the place.
on the night of 20 aug, alacartoona performed at a small restaurant called the colony in downtown
aspen. she entertained a small group of locals and transplants, mostly friends and aquaintences of
the hoffmans. what began as a relaxed and congenial affair, became a night of frenzied love as
it dawned upon those watching that alacartoona would soon leave and might not return.
the next morning, alacartoona was tired.
