in
tim finn's
2005 retrospective in the kansas city star, he lists
the violent femmes at the madrid as one of the best live shows
of the year. (in the same article, he lists
alacartoona at bulldog
as one of the best local shows.) alacartoona could not agree more.
the evening started with
the pitch
throwing a 25th anniversary party in the balcony. alacartoona was invited to entertain
the guests as they celebrated the accomplishments of kansas city's "other" newspaper.
but the real party started thereafter. the theater doors were opened, the public streamed in and
alacartoona took the main stage without mercy. she showed the crowd the true
meaning of cabaret and by the time she was done with her short set, hundreds of newly deflowered virgins
cheered - nay, begged - for more.
besides the aforementioned timothy finn, a host of beautiful people were on hand for the spectacle.
alacartoona's delicious lover
lazlo shed a tear for the things that could never
be, while fellow 96.5 the buzz dj afentra comforted him. long time alacartoona aficionados kelly morse
and sandy "sandelicious" dziedzic danced in ecstacy while the radiantly beautiful
tiffany hankel
observed the scene in a cool, detached splendor. and finally, steve tulipana of the
the recordbar
was present in all of his honey-baked deliciousness.
