to celebrate the independent culinary spirit of kansas city,
mano raphael
invited several of the town's greatest chefs to join him in the kitchen for one evening.
the result was a night of gastronomic ecstacy. being a fan of ecstacy, alacartoona attended,
as well.
with the likes of
colby garrelts
and
dennis kaniger
in the kitchen and the beauty of alacartoona on stage, it's no wonder the house was packed.
john and
sharon hoffman
invited a friend from aspen, co, to witness the spectacle. like a virgin
into the volcano he fell. helen and bob bushman, known for their proper breeding and
superb manners, were barely restrained from leaping upon the tables in mindless rapture.
jim "large in all respects" gall and kelly kitchens were in from seattle, soon to be married
but spending one last night of debauched bachelordom with alacartoona. dewey morse traveled in
from new york for the night, the end of which saw him leaving with jim and kelly. good boy!
thespians kelly sullivan, nikki walker and danny mastrogiogio--all also from new york and in
town for a
kc rep
production--left the show with eyes newly opened.

kay barnes
gazed upon providence from the bar until he paid her a visit and reminded her that she
was a woman and he was a man on occasion. tony glamcevski, alacartoona's dear friend and
more, looked as delicious as the food on the tables as he mixed rare and tasty libations
for the crowd while barbara raphael embraced the revelers with arms of honey and gold.
one final note: if you didn't try the "chicken ruby falls", you truly missed out. diners
and critics alike raved. the portion was, of course, the breast.
